Woah! It’s been a whirlwind of a couple months! Now that our house is officially sold, things are starting to settle down a bit, so we wanted to take a little bit of time and share with you all some FAQS about this whole selling, moving, building experience!

Q: Why did you guys decide to move?

Well, we were originally planning to list our house next summer, but knowing it was a seller’s market right now, we wanted to test the waters and see if we could get what we wanted for our house. When we bought our first home in Greentree, we bought it as a starter home…planning on being there for about 5 years. Well, after having a baby, we realized that our desire to be closer to family, closer to our church, in a neighborhood and off a main road grew stronger, so we wanted to see if we could make the move happen sooner than we originally expected. We started working with a realtor and had a list price in mind in order to profit a certain amount off of the house, and we were thrilled to find out that her list price was right in line with what we were hoping for! And after being on the market for 10 days, we received an offer and closed 30 days later!

Q: Why did you guys decide to build instead of buying resale?

Mike had been keeping an eye on the MLS listings for about 10-12 months to get a feel for what was out there in the price range we were looking at, in the school districts we were interested in and with the things we wanted/needed in a house. While there were definitely a few that piqued our interest, building seemed to make the most sense to get exactly what we wanted in the area we were looking within our budget.

Q: Where are you building?

We are building in the Oakbrooke Estates community in Cecil, PA!

Q: Where are you living while the house is being built?

We are currently living with my parents (about 5 minutes from where we are building – allowing us to visit the construction site daily). We are so thankful for all my parents’ help and for allowing us to take over their house with our little lady and our pup for the next several months.

Q: What will your new house look like?

We’ll be sure to share the photos throughout the process, but in the meantime, here is a look the floorplan (It’s the Dunkirk model)!

Q: When are you moving into the new house?

We’re hoping to get in before Christmas, but thinking the big move will happen sometime in January (giving us plenty of time to get settled in before next year’s wedding season picks up)
