Merry Monday, Personal, Us In Real Life

Merry Monday | It’s a Wrap

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your families! With all the excitement and anticipation surrounding Christmas, I always forget how fast the end of the year comes after! This past weekend marked the last of the year, and I still can’t believe it! So much has happened since last week so let’s take a look…

My parents headed to St. Louis to spend time with my brother, Adam, and his family, so Christmas was a little different for us this year. We went to Johnstown as usual to visit with Mike’s grandma and his family out there the 23rd into the 24th and enjoyed Christmas Eve dinner with them before heading home. Mike and I just can’t help but wake up like little children in our own home on Christmas morning running downstairs to open gifts! However, Mike woke up around 3:00 Christmas morning with a fever and spent the rest of the night on the couch. I woke up at 5:00 in a panic wondering where he was! We both went back to bed and woke up a couple house later, and after some Tylenol (and some Christmas presents), he was feeling much better. At this point we would typically make our way to my parent’s house for the day, but with them out of town we planned a little Christmas brunch with two of our best friends! I can’t say enough how much I appreciated that time with our friends – so incredibly thankful for them! Mike and I then came home and had our own Christmas dinner for two before heading to Mike’s parents’ house and then to his grandma’s house to see the rest of his family. Although I was quite emotional about not seeing my parents on Christmas this year (I blame some of that on those darn pregnancy hormones), it was a wonderful day spent with friends and my second family, and for that, I am very grateful.

The morning after Christmas, Mike woke up with a higher fever, and after a trip to MedExpress he got some meds, and we spent the rest of the day on the couch watching Gilmore Girls. By Saturday, Mike was feeling much better and we grabbed lunch with our friends who were in town from Brooklyn and spent hours chatting and catching up! Then, we wrapped up our Saturday with a holiday party at a friend’s house!

Next up, Sunday. After church we stopped by Mike’s family’s house for a bit before going out to the movies to see “Unbroken” (great movie – I love true stories!) followed by dinner. Yesterday marked our 10 year dating anniversary  – what?! – how has it been that long?! After our date day, we came home and looked through the scrapbooks I had made for Mike several years ago. We were laughing hysterically at some of the captions, hairstyles, outfits and so much more! SO many memories with this guy!

Christmas celebrations, tears, laughs, a fever and a dating anniversary – such a whirlwind of a weekend!
