Favorite Smoothie Recipes

This post is something a little different than what we usually post on here, but I guess we really just post what’s relevant and going on in our lives so it kinda fits – anyways, today I am sharing some of my favorite smoothie recipes with you all! I got a Ninja blender for Christmas from my parents – right now I use it for these smoothies and down the road, I plan to use it for making baby food! I started making a smoothie just about every morning for breakfast right after I got the blender and have been absolutely loving it! I wanted smoothies that were healthy and provided me with the servings of fruit and vegetables I needed and wanted to start the day off right for both me and Emily! There’s really only three smoothie recipes I rotate through each week, but let’s take a look!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Spinach Smoothie (quite a name – I know!)

What you’ll need:

A blender
1 cup of almond milk (calcium)
1-2 cups of spinach (vitamin K, vitamin A, manganese, folate, iron and more)
1 banana (vitamin B6, vitamin C, potassium, fiber and more)
2 tablespoons of peanut butter (protein)
2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup of ice

Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend until it’s the smoothness of your choice! P.S. I promise you cannot taste the spinach one bit and this smoothie is the perfect solution to a sweet and salty craving!

Berry Banana Spinach Smoothie

A blender
1 cup of almond milk (calcium)
2 heaping spoonfuls of plain greek yogurt (calcium and protein)
1 banana (vitamin B6, vitamin C, potassium, fiber and more)
7-8 frozen whole strawberries (vitamin C, manganese, fiber, folate)
3/4 cup of frozen berry medley (antioxidants, vitamin K, vitamin C and more)
1-2 cups of spinach (vitamin K, vitamin A, manganese, folate, iron and more)
Water if needed

Place all the ingredients in the blender and blend until it’s the smoothness and thickness of your choice. I typically like a little bit of a thinner smoothie so I will add some water to help get it to the consistency I like! The berry medley mix I use is from Sam’s Club and has blueberries, raspberries and blackberries!

Tropical Banana Spinach Smoothie

A blender
1 cup of almond milk (calcium)
2 heaping spoonfuls of plain greek yogurt (calcium and protein)
1 banana (vitamin B6, vitamin C, potassium, fiber and more)
1 cup of a frozen tropical fruit medley (thiamin, riboflavin, vitamin B6, folate, vitamin C and more)
1-2 cups of kale (vitamin B6, vitamin E, calcium, potassium, fiber and more)
Water if needed

Place all the ingredients in the blender and blend until it’s the smoothness and thickness of your choice.  I use a frozen tropical fruit medley from Sam’s Club that has mangos, pineapples, strawberries and peaches). P.s. don’t mind the color of these smoothies – it’s the kale and/or spinach!

With any of these, you can get creative and add oats, chai seeds and/or whatever else your heart desires, but these are just the basic recipes to get you started!
