Weekend Shenanigans | Social Media Free

As I mentioned in my contentment challenge post, I wanted to dedicate one weekend a month to going social media free, and that was this past weekend for me. I got to spend some extra time enjoying the kiddos and enjoying my downtime without the need and desire to pull out my phone. It was so rewarding guys!

Now onto the details of our weekend…it started off with a bang when Emily woke up sick Saturday morning leaving us scrambling to clean up her bed and get her bathed before Ethan got up. She was extra clingy all day on Saturday which made it a good thing that we didn’t have any plans (and I have to admit – our little independent girl is not a snuggler so I take any clingy days I can get with her). She seemed to get better as the day went on and eventually she was back to her wild self. Mike spent a couple hours working on finishing the framing in our basement with his dad, and his mom came over to help me with the kids (which was a huge blessing). We had a quiet rest of the night in (except for a quick red box and ice cream run to Sarris) and after the kiddos went down we watched the movie Sully.

Sunday we stayed home from church so we didn’t risk Emily getting any of the other kids in Sunday School sick. Mike sent me out to Starbucks for some alone time and to get some work done which was really amazing of him – I was definitely in need of some quiet time. We also spent time in the afternoon getting things done around the house (the list is never-ending friends)! Emily and I organized the pantry and Mike painted our powder room, we also got some cleaning done around the house making it fresh and ready for the start of the new week – there is something so nice about waking up Monday morning to a clean and clutter free house! After Emily’s nap her and I went out for a little mommy-daughter time (something that is very rare these days) to Panera for cookies (we had a gift card #contentmentchallenge) and to pick up our groceries from Wal-Mart (in this stage of life I can’t beat ordering my groceries online and driving through for free grocery pick up at Wal-Mart). We had a nice family dinner in (chicken parm is a household favorite of ours) and ended the weekend with some Parks and Rec and vacation planning. Not a fancy weekend by any means, but sometimes these kinds of weekends are my absolute favorite!

We hope you all had a healthy and fun weekend! Here’s to a great week!
