Top Ten Tuesday | Childhood Activities

So I got to thinking a couple of days ago about all of the activities I tried and participated in when I was a kid! I was surprised at how many, so I thought…why not make it a top ten!

  1. Piano lessons (didn’t do much for me..I can play hot cross buns, and that’s about it!) then it was the trumpet in 4th grade, clarinet from 6th-9th grade and the tenor saxophone in 10th grade! (I obviously couldn’t make up my mind lol)
  2. 4H (that only lasted about one meeting)
  3. Soccer (I’m pretty sure this is on everybody’s list of childhood activities they participated in, it’s a must for any kid!)
  4. Horseback riding (only a handful of times)
  5. Dance (let’s just say I’m not quite the graceful type, and I wasn’t born with too much rhythm…just a bit clumsy)
  6. Cheerleading (this makes me smile!)
  7. Basketball (I most definitely shot my free throws “granny-style” in middle school!)
  8. Gymnastics (still my favorite Olympic sport…go Shawn Johnson!)
  9. Track (seriously, they had me doing hurdles in middle school track…the hurdles were as tall as ME!)
  10. Softball (finally….the one that stuck! I played slowpitch when I was a wee-little kid then played fastpitch on travel leagues since I was 11. I lettered all for years of high school and ended my “career” with 2 years on Pitt’s club team!)
Happy Tuesday my friends! And enjoy a little shoe and ring action from Jessica and Justin’s wedding last weekend!

My top ten from childhood would be a little different, Alison: Troll Club (making clothes for our troll dolls!); Fishing off the back steps for random objects; Playing school on the front steps; Running Bases on the sidewalk; Girl Scouts forever!; Putting on magic shows for a penny admission; Chorus; Pushing whoever was in a stroller at the time around the block, hitting every bump REALLY HARD! ; Future Teachers of America; DS Express (racing to Kathy Baker Reiff’s house afterhigh school to watch Dark Shadows!
