Things We Wish We Had At Our Wedding

When Mike and I got married 26 months ago, we were pretty unfamiliar with weddings and all of the options that were out there. We had photographed one wedding (but were finished with most of our planning by that point), and had only attended a few others. And if Pinterest existed at the time, I didn’t know about it. If we were to get married all over again, there are a handful of things that we would change, add, get rid of, etc! We thought it’d be fun to share some of the things we wish we had at our wedding.

  • Gray suits. I had always wanted a purple, yellow and gray wedding, but when we went to the tuxedo shop to pick out the guys attire, we didn’t love the gray tux option, so we opted for black and went on with the planning. If we were to do it all over again, we would not only have had the guys in gray, but we would’ve bought suits instead of rented tuxedos (this way the guys would have new gray suits to keep, and we would’ve been able to find a style that we truly loved all for the same price). Not only that, but the suits would fit better. We’ve seen several instances where tux jackets, pants and dress shirts don’t fit the groom and/or groomsmen the way they would like, even after being measured.
  • Getaway car. I love the idea of driving around in a cute antique car all decked out with a “Just Married” sign, tin cans and all! If we were to do it all over again, we would have a getaway car (and if not a getaway car, we would at least have a limo)!
  • Live band. We loved our DJ and recommend him to our brides to this day; however, if we were to do it all over again, we probably would’ve considered having a live band (something my parents had wanted all along). Mike and I were nervous that because most of our guests were our young friends, they wouldn’t be as active on the dance floor if we had a live band playing swing and oldies, so we chose to go with a DJ that would play current music that our friends would know and love. We been to a handful of weddings with live bands and absolutely love the vibe that the live music brings to the reception!
  • Photo booth. This is another thing we went back and forth on, deciding in the end to nix it. Now, everytime we are at a wedding with a photobooth, we wish we would’ve had one! The guests always seem to love them and it gives them a chance to get some fun photos with their friends!
  • Ice cream bar. We love ice cream…enough said!

One thing is for sure though…we would choose each other every time!
