Personal, Us In Real Life

June 1, 2012

Hey June

Happy first day of June! I’m not sure I really have words to express how busy we were the entire month of May! A lot of exciting things happening like buying a house and kicking off this year’s wedding season, but with a new house comes many new projects and with wedding season comes many hours of editing! I’m so thankful I am married to my best friend that I can (literally) lean on during busy times like this!

These monthly posts can be a lot of info, goals and updates, but I love being able to share what’s going on with our lives…and to be honest, getting my monthly goals out in the open for the entire internet world to see helps keep me accountable! lol

WARNING: Lots of bullet points ahead!

I figured I’d share some new house happenings that didn’t quite make the blog:

  • Our first full day of owning the house, there was quite the water leak in our finished basement (coming from a pipe under the sink). It ruined the ceiling tile and carpet a bit, but is now fixed! This is slowly, but surely, starting to turn into one of those funny “when we bought our first house” stories!
  • We got 5 rooms painted (with the help of friends and family): my office (which I CANNOT wait to share pictures of), the guest bedroom (which is no longer dark brown paneling), the living room, dining room, and kitchen!
  • New carpet was installed in our master bedroom this past week!
  • We had to change the location of our dryer…taking an electrician, my dad and a family friend to master this task of sending a new electrical line to the dryer from the breaker box and finding a new place for the dryer to vent out of the house!
  • THEN, the valves connecting our washer to the waterlines leaked all over the finished laundry room (that is still drying out)! Again, this is just allowing us for one more comical story to tell our kids one day! It’s totally fixable (at least we assume…we are still in the process of getting someone in to fix it! lol)
  • Mike got a little zap putting up one of our light fixtures! Thank goodness he is okay and got a laugh out of it!
Here’s a sneak peak at the changes already made in my office (still lots to put away and hang up, but it’s definitely getting there)!!

Well, enough of the house! Moving on, let’s look at what June has to offer!

  • We’ve got two weddings this month!
  • The Pittsburgh Arts Festival is in a couple weeks (looking forward to a day with my mom at the festival followed by a show downtown)!
  • We leave for Kenya!
  • I’m running a 5K (and by running, I mean in charge of…tricked ya didn’t I?!) You can find out more information about it here!
  • We are also hoping to have our house start looking more like a home (if you know what I mean)…getting rid of boxes, hanging pictures on the walls…etc!

As for personal goals for this month…they mostly have to do with the house, but here they are:

  • Take down the wallpaper and paint the main floor bathroom.
  • Paint the den in the basement.
  • Start working on our mudroom!
  • Get back into shape!!! With the move (and I’m sure I can think of many other excuses…lol) I have COMPLETELY neglected my treadmill, the sidewalk, the trail….everything. It’s time to change that up a bit!
  • Try some new recipes (I’ll be looking to you, Pinterest)
  • Get our Life Group on a more consistent schedule!

Last but not least…business goals for this month.

  • Finish decorating my office!
  • Host my first client meeting at our new house (once the house and my office is in order)
  • Update info in StudioCloud
  • Purchase an iMac
  • Get connected with the vendors from the weddings I photograph

P.S. The team my dad has coached since they were 12 (and are now in high school) won the WPIAL Championship last night! I am so proud of him and the girls! (sorry for the iPhone photos)
