Wedding Day Essentials

Each night before a wedding, Mike and I sit on the floor of my office and sort, charge, and prep all of our equipment while also making sure that all of our essentials are packed and ready to go. What are some of our essentials you might ask? Well, today we thought it’d be fun to share what all we bring with us on the wedding day (not including the obvious…all of our camera equipment).

  • “Bride” hanger – to avoid the “We <3 Our Customer” hangers when photographing the bride’s dress!
  • Silver “command strip” hook – we love having the flexibility to hang the dress wherever we feel will create the best shot! (Thanks to Justin & Mary for this idea)
  • Chapstick – Burt’s Bees is all we use! Mike keeps one in his pocket, and we have one in each of our camera bags! Obsessed? Maybe. Prepared? Definitely.
  • Tide-to-go! Comes in handy more times than you’d think!
  • iPad and camera connector – if we have time, we try to download some of the images from the day to show the bride and groom before the end of the night.
  • Our portable external hard drive.
  • Boots – for snow or rain
  • Advil.
  • Business cards.
  • “Thank You” banner if our couples are interested in using it.
  • Bottled water.
  • Cheez-its and granola bars (these are for Mike)
  • Candy – either a couple pieces of chocolate or sour patch watermelons! (that’s for me)

  1. Susan Moyers says:

Bride hanger and command hook = SMARTEST thing I have ever seen!

  2. Lydia says:

As a fellow Burt’s Bees lover, I’m glad to see I’m not the only one to carry multiples around at a wedding! And this post reminded me that I need to get my command hook before my first wedding this year!
