Weekend Shenanigans | Anniversary + 4th of July

Not only did we get to celebrate America’s freedom yesterday, but we got to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary this weekend as well! We left Friday morning for Philadelphia to (finally) cross Citizen’s Bank Park off our list of MLB baseball stadiums (since the last time we were there 3 years ago the game got cancelled). We saw a great game, ate some hot dogs (how can you refuse a hot dog at a ballpark on 4th of July weekend – pregnant or not) and enjoyed a fantastic fireworks show after the game. Saturday morning we made the drive into New York and stopped by to visit our friend’s new apartment in Brooklyn and grab brunch (and donuts) with them! So thankful for these friends and although we only get to see them a couple times a year, it is always such a sweet time picking up right where we left off the last time! Then we headed into Manhattan, checked into our hotel and got ready for the evening. Guys, we took our first Uber – I understand we are way behind our time, but we felt like we reached a new status Saturday night. We enjoyed a delicious italian meal at Il Mulino in Greenwich Village and some gelato at Grom before we took another Uber (look at us!!) into Times Square to see the show Something Rotten. It was truly a great day and the perfect way to celebrate our 5 years of marriage. Sunday morning we headed to Central Park for a 6 mile bike ride before stopping (and waiting 30 minutes in line) for New York’s first and famous cronuts. It was the perfect little getaway, but boy were we excited to get some to see our sweet pea that we missed SO much!! That was the longest we ever left her (but it was fun FaceTiming with her Saturday night and seeing her so excited to see us, waving to us and blowing us kisses)! We got home Sunday evening just in time for some cuddles, a book and then it was bedtime!

Monday, we celebrated this great country at Canonsburg’s good old 4th of July Parade – we were so excited to take Emily for the first time (although she could care less about what was going on) – it was good for us now having a kid to get all the good candy! Then we spent some of the afternoon seeing some of my mom’s side of the family that we haven’t seen in a while which was so great! And although we missed out on the fireworks and couldn’t quite see any from our house we enjoyed the rest of the night in before getting back to work in the morning! Here’s a look at our weekend!
