I love singing Oh Holy Night at a candle light service on Christmas Eve, going to Mark’s Grandparents house for Christmas dinner and games, hunting for a Christmas Tree and decorating it and I can’t wait to make more traditions with Hudson now!
While there are TONS of Christmas traditions I love! Two of my favorites are Christmas Cookie Baking Day with my sister & now nephew ???? I’ve been getting videos of him all week telling me how excited he is! Secondly, and a constant is definitely Christmas Eve Mass…the candlelight, the Christmas carols & the celebration.
My family get together includes what we call “entertainment” where we have to do some sort of game or song or anything you can think of. My grama’s rules are “if you eat, you have to entertain” and we’ve been doing it every year since I was 3 years old.
My favorite Christmas tradition has really changed over the past few years. Growing up, and through college, it would have been spending Christmas Eve at my aunt and uncle’s home where they would host a formal dinner every year (even when we were babies). My dad and aunts would make a Lithuanian dish called Kugula. It would take them hours to prepare, and it isn’t one of my favorite dishes because of the taste, but is a favorite because of the fun and laughter that goes with making it.
Now, as I’ve been married a few years, and changed careers to one where I work Christmas Day, I love hosting my inlaws Christmas Eve morning and my parents in the afternoon. Then, we all go to church together to hear my Father-in-law speak on the good news of Christmas! We end the night in the biggest pancake dinner at my grandmother-in-laws home, where 50+ people show up! They’ve been doing that for 30 years & I love that my own family now attends.
On Christmas Eve we draw names and we have to give a present that we’ve spent no money on… A service, something you own, or something you’ve made! It’s always such a special and thoughtful gift!
My favorite tradition is decorating the tree with my husband, and candlelight service on Christmas Eve!
Our favorite Christmas tradition just started last year, spending the morning at home with our son, Jack… before all of the traveling begins! Christmas is so much better with kids!
We love spending time with our close friends and family! Christmas Eve we have yummy treats hot chocolate and love telling stories about past Christmases. Christmas Day we rush around to all our families homes and have a wonderful meal together. Then Christmas night watch a Christmas story about 3-5 times b4 everyone passes out from exhaustion!
My favorite Christmas tradition is making homemade cinnamon rolls and eating them in my PJs with my whole family while we open presents :)
I have so many favorites! I always loved that in the mornings, my brohters and I would wait for each other to get up, or rather, wake the others who weren’t up yet, and walk to get our stockings together. Then, we’d all open them on my bed! It was so much fun!
My favorite tradition is watching Christmas movies, while drinking hot coffee and wrapping gifts at night with the Christmas tree lit and the fireplace running ❤
A big brunch on Christmas!
My favorite Christmas tradition is decorating the tree with my family.
When I was younger, my mother and I would sometimes stay out late shopping when the stores would be open late. After we shopped till we dropped, we would head over to eat n park for grilled stickies a la mode and hot tea. My husband and I have brought this tradition back and celebrated it for the 2nd time this season :)
My favorite Christmas tradition starts before Christmas with baking everyone’s favorite Christmas cookies…then on Christmas Eve, going to a candlelight service and singing Christmas carols at church really enriches the true meaning of Christmas. My parents have both passed away, but Christmas Eve dinner was always extra special with all the different types of fishes and side dishes and homemade desserts (Italian style) It was so wonderful when everyone got together and shared the special meal and talked and laughed…it was great…I can still see my Mom and Dad’s smiles :) Christmas Day is a day spent with family once more…I love all the aromas of all the delicious food cooking…So thankful for my family and Christmastime…my favorite time of year…Merry Christmas!
